Copics Tutorial ~ Rosy Red Cheeks...

Hi all!
Have you been watching the Royal Wedding today. I was.....and making a card at the same time using my 'Willow With Cookies' stamp by Whiff Of Joy.

I love my images to have rosy red cheeks, especially if using on a project with rich colours. Sometimes pink cheeks just won't do for me! So how do you achieve this without your finished image resembling Coco The Clown?....

So I thought I'd put together a little Copics tutorial for you. It works with Promarkers too. Just pick out similar shades to those pictured above. I'm no expert, but here's how I do my rosy red cheeks...

STEP 1....go all over face with E00
(Today I am using E00 & E02 as my skin tones. This will vary on what complexion, hair colour etc, I want my image to have. I also consider what papers/colours will be used on my finished card and try to tone the skin & hair colours accordingly)....

STEP 2....use E02 in the areas that there would be shade (i.e. hairline, neck, under the chin etc.)....
STEP 3....use R37 to draw a small circle on her cheeks. Eeek!! don't be afraid at this point that she looks like Coco The Clowns twin sister!
(I am using R37 today, as this will tone in with the shades of red I intend to use on my finished card. Use any shade of red, deep pink etc, that with tone in with your finished project. I have a home made swatch of all my marker colours. I always hold the papers I intend to use against my swatch to pick out the best colours of markers to match.)...
STEP 4...now working quite quickly so that the markers don't have time to dry properly between steps, pop your image onto a folded piece of ABSORBENT KITCHEN PAPER TOWEL, and go all over the face in the palest skin colour again, E00.
(The kitchen paper with suck out the excess red from behind the image. If you do not use the kitchen paper, the red ink will not blend out as easily and just sit on the papers surface.)....
STEP 5....still working on the kitchen paper, go over the cheeks and middle of the face with the BLENDER PEN....
STEP 6....still working on the kitchen paper, I then take a pink shade, BLUSH - R20, and go over the cheeks again. I then add a little more E02 etc, in the shaded areas, and maybe a little more E00 until I'm happy...
STEP 7....to finish the rosy look, I add a tiny spot of white gel pen (Signo or Inkissentials) to where the cheek bone would reflect the light. This would naturally be a little below the outer corner of the eye.
I realised after I had pictured the finished image I had missed a tiny bit of hair at the nape of her neck! That's what you get for colouring whist watching a Royal Wedding!I will show you the finished card tomorrow.....all hair intact!

Thanks for looking, and I hope you find this of some use!

CES Challenges and Squiggle Stamps DT...

Hi all!
Really sorry I've not been visiting your blogs much this week. The weather has been wonderful hasn't it? With the Children being off, we've been out and about! Fresh air certainly tires you out doesn't it? So not much late night blog hopping for me this week. I'll catch up with you all soon though!

So enough chat, and on to my card! A brand new challenge at CES Challenges, and the theme this week is 'SPRING!'

I have combined my GDT card with a DT card for Squiggle Stamps. This fab image is called Japanese Dolly, and you can grab her as a digi or rubber HERE.
I paper pieced her and used Copics to colour.

I also used;

Martha Stewart border punch and butterfly punch,
Whimsy 'spring' letter seal sentiment stamps from Quixotic Paperie,

Fab'n'Funky Challenge #69 - "Here comes the Bride"...

Hi all!
Are you enjoying the Easter hols, especially if you've been home with the kids?? We've had a lovely time without the manic early morning mad rush and school runs. But it's gone soooo fast!
Never mind, we've quite a few bank hols coming up soon too.

I just need to let you know about this weeks challenge over at Fab'n'Funky. As we've the Royal Wedding coming up our theme is...

HERE COMES THE BRIDE!

So please join us with your wedding themed creations this week.

Where's my DT card....you might ask?

Well I have been working hard on a special wedding card, and although I'm tempted to show you, I've decided not to blog it just yet. It's for my Sister and her partner who get wed in a couple of weeks, and I wouldn't want to risk her seeing it. So you'll just have to wait!!

But the rest of the DT have been making some gorgeous things as always! Please see the challenge blog.

See you later!

Little Boy Blue (The Sugar Bowl)...

Hi again!
The other day I treated myself to this new Sugar Nellie 'Adorables' digi called 'Nathan'. I couldn't wait to use him!
I have based this card on the latest Sugar Bowl sketch, (my second entry), but wanted to used my new Fleur De Lis squares, rather than a circular shape as illustrated on the sketch...so please remove my entry ladies if it won't do.
There is also a 'use purple & green' option, but I just had to give this little cutie his first outing in blue....no other colour would do! Not very good at following rules am I...lol!

I coloured the little sweetie with my Copics.
The dp is from a Papermania Capsule pad.

I also used;

Nestabilities Reverse Wonky dies - I used the second largest die to cut out the image, using the 'out of the box' technique for ted's foot. (I have a tutorial on this technique HERE)
I then drew around the same die, and cut out by hand for the cream mat. The next die up would have made the cream mat larger than I wanted.

Nestabilities Fleur De Lis Squares from HERE,

Vintage Core'dinations card,

Corrugated card,

Sakura clear glaze pen (for ted's nose & eyes!),

String & buttons,

Card Candy.

I will enter this card into;

Card Ideas - Guys
Wee Memories - all things adorable
Fussy & Fancy - for a child
Copic Creations - use fave paper for Copic colouring (Ryman's smooth)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
