A Gem Of A Challenge & CES Challenges...

 Hi everyone. Many thanks for the get well wishes for my Mum. She's still in hospital, and the docs are still not sure exactly what's wrong with her, but thankfully the intravenous antibiotics seem to be working as she's showing some improvement. Here's hoping she's back home with us soon!
Meanwhile my girls are away for three days with the Brownies. Missing them lots! Already had a text from the Brownie leader this morning to let me know Beth's managed to loose her shoes!! Oh dear...hope they find them or she'll have to spend all weekend in her wellies!

So, here's my DT card for A Gem Of A Challenge, where Katie has a gorgeous sketch for us;

Love You Mum....

Hi everyone, just quickly popping on to show you latest very sweet releases over at Pink Gem Designs, just perfect for those special makes for your Mum! The sentiments also match perfectly with the very popular 'Love Owls' set here.

Talking of Mums, my Mum has been up the hospital since 4am today undergoing tests. She's had a strange & very painful swelling gradually getting worse around her face & neck all week. It seems to be glandular but we're not sure. She's seen two doctors already this week. Antibiotics haven't touched it so Dad decided to take her to A&E this morning, as it's just too painful to cope with.  I'm just waiting for a phone call to see what's going on. I should be packing for my girls who are going away with the Brownies for an 3 day adventure break in the morning. Oh dear...it was one of  'those' years last last year, was counting on this year being better. Hope you'll understand that I'll catch up with you all when I can.
Thanks for stopping by!

I Love You!...

 Hi all! Hope you've had a good start to the week. At least it's a little milder here...a welcome break from ice & snow!
Sorry I've been AWOL, but have been really under the weather. What started out a nasty cold turned into tonsillitis. I've been feeling too unwell to craft. Saturday was spent in PJ's.  I had to take my daughter to a party on Sunday, but still felt ropey. Today I feel much more lively thankfully. So I had to knuckle down and get this card finished. It's a commissioned card needed for the big day tomorrow. I did start it last week before I became unwell, and it was also meant to be my DT card for CES Challenges - 'Lot's Of Layers' challenge on Saturday. So it's obviously very late...(sorry about that ladies!)

I used two of the new February images from DigiStamp Boutique, Valentine Rufus & Valentine Tia.
I layered the PNG files over a Pink Petticoat patterned paper in 'Page Plus'. When printed, the background is patterned but the images stay blank ready to colour.
I used Promarkers & Flexmarkers (from Crafty Emma's Store) to colour. I then stamped the couples initials into the hearts (they're holding each others initials). I used wood mounted stamps, so was doing this a little blindly. Phew...the 'G' only just made it inside the heart! I then added Stardust Stickles.

Card Blank,
Card Candi,
Gems,
Various Flowers.

Other Items;
Pink Petticoat Papers,
Black card,
Go Kreate Dies,
Memory Box 'La Rue' Heart Die,
Charm,
Ribbon,
Whimsy Stamps Ticket Sentiments.

Inside I used one of the fab new 'Valentine Words' sentiments  from DigiStamp Boutique. Again I layered onto a patterned paper in 'Page Plus'.

Hope you like, and hope the couple like too.

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

What A Day!!

Hi all. What a day!! You may have seen on the news what treacherous roads & pavements we woke up to here in Stoke. Everywhere covered in thick black ice. Hubby called me from work at 7am (he walks to work at 5.30am) to let me know how awful it was. He only has to go a short distance which normally doesn't take very long, but took him 45 mins today. I think he slid all the way there. The roads were just as bad as the pavements and he saw a few accidents even at that time in the morning. He told me to stop in and keep the kids home. But 'Oh' I thought 'It can't be all that bad!' So after I finally managed to scrape the sheet of ice from my windscreen and nearly fell on my bum (several times), and sprinkled a whole tub of table salt on the drive just so the kids could get to the car...off we went!
Well how wrong was I?? Never been so scared in my life. Cars weren't stopping at junctions, including mine! Thank god  the roads were eerily quite for a Friday morning. I think most either turned back and went home, or were sensible (unlike me) and didn't bother go out. I saw so many people go head over heels and saw SEVEN ambulances, and numerous police cars just on the school run! So scary! When we got to school, there was a male teacher literally pulling everyone through the gates one by one. Like skiing without skis! No way could you walk! Hardly any of the teachers made it in or were late, and only half the kids turned up. Wish I never bothered. Was so glad to get home in one piece. We had no post at all today. They couldn't have managed their rounds..no way! I did have a courier parcel this afternoon though when it began to thaw a bit. The driver said he's been in the job for 27 years and had never seen anything like how it was this morning! Honestly you'd have to see it to believe it! Apparently there were over a hundred & twenty 999 calls between 7.30 and 11am in the Stoke area...and over 90 of those were for fall victims alone! The radio said our area normally only gets about forty-three 999 calls in a whole day!
I'm completely laid up too, with terrible bad throat & the glands are all out in my neck. So, so glad it's the school hols now. But I feel sorry for hubby who has to go out in it again at 5.30 in the morning.

Hope it's not too bad where you are!

A Gem Of A Challenge & CES Challenges....

Hi all. Really sorry to everyone. I'm running a little late this weekend with my DT card. Hubby has been unwell for the past few days. Now we have snow....and lots of it! The kids have been building snowmen & sledging.
Anyway, here it is, my DT card for both A Gem Of A Challenge, where Lisa has the theme of FAIRIES for you, and also CES Challenges, where Vicky has designed this lovely sketch below for you to follow and/or would like to see WINGS on your creations. So like me, you could easily combine a creation for these two challenges.

Ingredients;
The lovely Faye digi stamp & various digi papers all from Pink Gem Designs.
I used 'Page Plus' to print Faye directly onto the patterned paper before colouring her.

Card Blank,
Gems,
Pins,
Flexmarkers & Promarkers

From my stash;
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch,
Stickles Star Dust,
Go Kreate Dies,
Sentiment.

Please check out the other DT makes. Hopefully you'll feel inspired to join in with our challenges. Look forward to seeing what you make!
